Dedicated to Gloria Gittman
This book is dedicated to my grandmother, Mom-Mom, a woman whose strength, wisdom, and love shaped the very heart of Mistakí. As a Holocaust survivor, she faced unimaginable hardships, yet she never allowed them to define her. Instead, she carried her experiences with resilience, always moving forward, always teaching, always finding meaning in what others might see as obstacles.
She had a way of turning every challenge into a lesson, every mistake into an opportunity. She showed me that missteps weren’t failures—they were invitations to grow, to think differently, to become stronger. She believed in me fiercely, guiding me with her stories, her patience, and her unwavering support.
Her life was proof that even in the darkest times, we can find light—that we are not limited by what happens to us but by how we choose to respond. This project exists because of her lessons, her love, and her legacy.
Mistakí is for everyone who has ever struggled, doubted, or felt like they’ve failed. It’s a reminder that we can always learn, always adapt, and always move forward—just as she did.
